Jul 1 @ 10:00 am – Jul 28 @ 11:00 am

Where’s Waldo?

Waldo is back! That sneaky character is hiding all around Downtown Manhattan Beach in the month of July. Find as many Waldos as you can, and you can have a chance to win some great prizes.
To participate, pick up a “passport” at pages: a bookstore or any other participating merchant downtown, and start your search for Waldo.
This year, Waldo is hiding in 25 spots around Manhattan Beach, including Manhattan Beach City Hall, the Manhattan Beach Farmers MarkethomieMB PostRockefellerRight Tribe, and many others.
Once you have 10 stamps, come into {pages} for your “I Found Waldo” button and a “Waldo Dollar” good for one dollar off of a Waldo book (limited to the first 125 Waldo spotters).
If you collect stamps/signatures in at least 20 different locations, you will receive the button and coupon, PLUS be entered into a drawing for Waldo books and other great prizes.
All Waldo hunters are invited to a Waldo Grand Celebration and prize drawing on Sunday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. at {pages} a bookstore.  There will be treats and activities (and maybe even a visit from Waldo himself!).

2019 marks the 32nd anniversary of the bespectacled, red-and-white-striped traveler. Author/illustrator Martin Handford began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. Waldo (known as Wally in Great Britain) is now a cultural icon with over 67 million Waldo books in print worldwide that have been translated into more than thirty languages.
The Waldo event is spearheaded by Waldo publisher Candlewick Press and the American Booksellers Association.
More than 250 independent bookstores including {pages} are hosting Find Waldo scavenger hunts this July while spreading the “shop local” message in their cities and towns.
Earlier this year, {pages} was named Small Business of the Year by Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi for California Assembly District 66.

Queen Nation

July 14 – Queen Nation

There is little doubt among the pure rock community that the legendary band Queen and lead performer Freddie Mercury earn high ranks as one of the most powerful and iconic groups in rock history. Queen, the kings of arena rock, performed to packed stadiums around the globe for over two decades. Freddie took showmanship by a rock front man to a new untapped level and was undisputedly crowned the lord of arena rock. He mesmerized audiences with his charismatic energy and larger than life stage persona. Upon his death in 1991, a huge void was left in the rock concert world, which to this day has not yet been matched.

Queen Nation, a tribute to Queen, was formed in 2004. Queen Nation consists of: Gregory Finsley on vocals and keyboards as Freddie Mercury, Mike McManus on guitar as Brian May, Pete Burke on drums as Roger Taylor, and Parker Combs on bass as John Deacon. The mission of the show is to carry on the musical torch and pay homage to the golden age of vintage Queen concerts.

Queen Nation’s live 90-minute production of Queen’s greatest hits preserves the image, sound, and stage persona of vintage Queen. Audiences are amazed at the accuracy of Queen Nation’s live retrospective journey through such Queen songs as We Will Rock You – Bohemian Rhapsody – We Are The Champions – Crazy Little Thing Called Love – You’re My Best Friend – Another One Bites The Dust – Under Pressure and many more. They have performed in front of thousands of people at casinos, fairs, festivals and private affairs.
